The Blue Angels show season runs each year from March until November. They perform at military and civilian airfields, and often perform directly over major cities such as San Francisco and Seattle during "Fleet Week" maritime festivals.

This jet is executing a high performance take-off. The photo was taken the split second that the pilot "rotated", ie pulled back on the stick, the nose wheel off the ground. It gives the illusion that the pilot is "tail walking" the jet but that would be highly dangerous (and against regulations) to do a manuever like that so close to the ground.
