My dad was a Ball Turrret Gunner on a B17. Did 35 Combat Missions.

Commercial pilots today go through thousands of hours of training .The average age of a B17 crew was 20 .The pilot might have 50 HRs in the seat,probably a lot less,more than half never came home.Think about that while you bitch about the weather.

This is such an awesome aircraft. They will make them bigger, faster and meaner - but will never take the place in our hearts this aircraft and many valiant crews have.
