It is a picture of a 280mm M65 Atomic cannon (Atomic Annie) which was fired at Frenchman Flat, Nevada May 25 1953 at 08:30 Local time It was the first and only time a atomic shell was fired. explosion was 7 miles away, weapon had a maximum range of 20 miles. 20 0f the M65s were built and deployed to Europe, but was obsolete shortly after deployment. Several have survive and are at museums.
