During WWII nose art was widely used as a little reminder of home and for good luck by the crews who flue those great war birds. Most of the art were of women who graced the front of these airplanes. As each crewman entered the aircraft they would give a little pat as they asked to be brought back home safely; “Bring me home girl.” This B-17 the Yankee Lady must have had many pats on her bum in her time of need to be here today.
