Comments for "The Blue Angels"

er, I believe the aircraft in the foreground is a Grumman F8F 'Bearcat' - judging by its bubble canopy and 'radial-engine profile.' FWIW, the group that was to become known as the Blue Angels initially flew their demonstartions with the F6F-5 Hellcat. However, after a few months, they upgraded to the more powerful (and 20% lighter) Grumman F8F 'Bearcat' - the last piston-engine fighter to perform that role.
