It does look like an early P-38F model (engine cowl). Surly it is restored, but the wing insignia is wrong. After Pearl Harbor, the red in the insignia was removed. No one wanted the be misidentified as being Japanese. Even the Brits in SE Asia removed the red from their insignias.

WOW first seen this Bird in an old film where some Man in old warbirds fight a bad Nazi and some Drug Dealers ,I dont know the name of the Movie (Film) and i like the Plane .I have seen this flying at some Air shows and his twin Engine sound was impressive ...Hee Heee. if i have a Common Flu my Nose is much more Dangerous then this bird and the Guns..Love and Favor the Pic ....♥BUSSI♥ Melanie.
